March 2008 Loco' no5 is in works for overhaul. She has been stripped down for inspection works and will be back in revenue earning service later this spring. Works include the fitment of a chuff pipe and for painting to be done in the cab area. the bufferbeams are also being repainted into a less eye wrenching shade of red. smokebox and cab roof will be matt black rather than the unconvincing roundhouse standard shiny black. |

Below. The last of a batch of seven quarry waste wagons. this one utilises coopercraft running gear, allied to a steel body and hardwood buffer beams produced as a kit by Paul Perryman. weathering was done simply using red oxide primer as a base coat and thinned enamel paints. |

Bressingham Nursery Railway Coach This is a model of the coaches that run on the 2ft gauge Nursery Railway at Bressingham Steam Museum. the originals utilised hudson bogies from old wagons from the now closed Claydon cement works railway. First job here was to "butcher" a pair of Binnie engineering chassis to make the bogies and ends of the coach underframes. The body is a mixture of plywood and stripwood. seen Below at the bare wood stage. |
|
Below is the real thing sat alongside the main museum hall at Bressingham. Originally these were open bodied coaches but roofs have been added at some stage in their lives. sadly most of these coaches are now withdrawn from service as new steel bodied coaches were bought in to replace them, |

Below: The completed article, I've opted for the original 'roofless' style as it will be used as a "summer coach" on the MNGR. |

31 Dec 2007. The latest project to emerge from the sheds. With heavy wintry weather predicted over the next month or so the management decided to dust off the snowplough, Having sat inactive behind Maesffordd shed for the last 21 months (no snow at all last year) gathering dust and cobwebs. The spare guards van was dragged out of a siding and duly modified into a useful snowplough and tool van/mess room with a stove inside for the crew to warm themselves round when it gets too cold. A high intensity spot lamp gives illumination for any nght time operations. as you can see from the primer patches, the original van required some repairs to keep out the draughts. |
